What we do

A brief over view of the many things we do.

Community Service

About Us

Over 50 years of service

Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and communities. This is also an excellent opportunity to experience law enforcement as a possible career choice. Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the Danbury Police Department. The Danbury Police Department’s Explorer Program is a leadership development program of various community service based activities that help participating youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop. Training and educational activities are conducted on a regular basis by trained and certified police officer instructors. With over 50 years of service to the greater Danbury community, our police explorer program has an established record of success in developing tomorrow’s community, business and industry leaders.

Matthew McNally

I have been in the Post for 6 years. I joined to better my leadership skills. I am the 5th Matthew in my family. During my time in the Post, I have been awarded with the Goodwill Award, Law Enforcement Explorer Achievement Award, and have attended two National Conferences and will be attending my third this year. I hope to make a lasting mark on the post.

I am from the Dominican Republic. I joined the Danbury Police Explorers on August 15, 2010 to become a leader. During my time as a Police Explorer, I have been awarded with Perfect Attendance, Explorer of the Year, as well as having the most community service hours three years in a row. I wish to become a Police Officer when I leave the Post.
